Paul Müller-Kaempff
artist
Ahrenshoop, Germany
About
Paul Müller-Kaempff (1861–1941) was the founder of the Ahrenshoop artists' colony, one of the oldest and most important in Germany. A landscape and marine painter in the plein-air tradition, he was drawn to the dramatic coastal landscapes of the Fischland-Darß peninsula on the Baltic Sea. In 1892, he established the colony that would attract generations of painters to capture the unique light, dunes, and thatched-roof villages of this windswept coast.
