Karoo Morning — After the Rain

A luminous watercolour capturing the rare moment after Karoo rainfall, when the normally ochre landscape erupts in unexpected green. Heydenrych's masterful wet-on-wet technique creates soft atmospheric effects in the sky while precise dry-brush details anchor the foreground scrubland and stone walls. The painting embodies the artist's conviction that watercolour's unpredictability mirrors life in the Klein Karoo — beautiful, fleeting, and full of surprise.
